22nd May 2009

I'm pleased to report that my new band The Bone Supremacy which I co-lead with Ian Bateman, is already gathering quite a following. We now have 40 numbers in our repertoire and this is being added to all the time by a host of writers eager to exercise their five-trombone arranging skills! We're at the 100 Club on 28th May from 12.30pm where our guest trombonist will be Mark Nightingale. On 3rd June we're near my hometown of Southampton at the Concorde Club starting at 9pm and this gig features Alistair White as our guest trombonist and also John Pearce on piano.

On 25th May I'm at the Pizza Express Jazz Club with the Frank Griffith Nonet featuring Georgia Mancio. On this date we'll be performing my arrangement of Georgia and Tim Lapthorn's recent composition entitled 'Solace'.

I'm with Back To Basie on 29th May at The Stables, Wavendon, for which I've recently completed a transcription of Bill Byers' instrumental version of 'My Kind Of Town' as recorded on the 1963 album Frankly Basie.

Elio Pace's new album 'A Seat At My Table' was released just over a week ago and is available online and at all good record shops, as the saying goes! Listen out also for the single 'Addicted To The Phone' which is currently being broadcast on various programmes/stations including Wake Up To Wogan on BBC Radio 2.
