At the end of November 2006 I recorded an album with the Karen Sharp Quintet, which was released early in 2007. The latest Frank Griffith Nonet album 'Coventry Suite' which is released on 33 Records features my work as both trombonist and arranger/composer.
In January 2009 Ian Bateman and I formed the five trombone band The Bone Supremacy. Watch the News page for updates on this project.
I'm a regular dep with many bands, but notably Acker Bilk and his Paramount Jazz Band, the Alan Barnes Octet, Andy Dickens Band, Keith Nichols' Blue Devils Orchestra, the Ken McCarthy Septet and the Ray Gelato Giants.
I'm also a member of the Don Weller Electric Octet which can be seen occasionally at various UK jazz festivals.
The award-winning Back to Basie can often be heard at theatres and jazz clubs throughout the UK. As well as being a member of the trombone section I am also the band's chief transcriber/arranger.
I'm a regular member of the big bands of Don Weller, Michael Garrick and Stan Tracey, the rarely heard ED/GE and Johnny Keating Orchestra. I'm also a member of the fabulous contemporary big band the London Jazz Orchestra and am on their 2004 album of material by Ed Sarath entitled 'New Beginnings'.
Throughout the Autumn of 2006 I toured with the Tony Hadley Big Band. In 2005 I toured Spain and France with Gillespiana and Lew Soloff, and can occasionally be seen with this and one of Pete Long's other bands 9.20 Deluxe.
In 2008 I toured with Michael Feinstein's UK band.
I'm an occasional dep with the Bert Kaempfert Orchestra, Pete Cater Big Band and Willie Garnett Big Band.
Elio Pace has released his new album entitled 'A Seat At My Table' - watch my news page for further info. I'm a member of the EP Horns, a section run by Pete Effamy, and in 2006 we recorded the brass for the Shakin Stevens album 'Now Listen'.
A few years ago I recorded a track with Incognito, and relish the occasions when I'm asked to do funk/fusion gigs/sessions.
I've depped on various shows including Crazy For You, Five Guys Named Moe and The Rat Pack.
I use an Earl Williams Model Six which I believe dates from the early 80s. Whilst it is without doubt the best horn I've ever played I'm still looking for an earlier example built by the man himself, but so are a lot of people... |
